Current Issue

In our November print issue, we catch up with 23-year-old equestrian Jovan Daniel, who graced our cover in 2010 with his horse Ares. Daniel is featured in our new Where Are They Now? series. He began to train and compete in horseback riding at the age of 13, then continued his career by attending Morrisville State College. Now he studies at St. Andrews University, helping to diversify this elite sport.

We also continue with our larger in-depth journalism project They Wear Bluecompleted by Newhouse students over a four-month period. This month, we take a look at the future of the force by spending time with a group of Syracuse city school students in the law enforcement track at the Public Service Leadership Academy. The series also shares the results of a survey of high school seniors’ opinions about police.

Our cover story is a profile of local activist and author Shaunna Spivey-Spinner, who will release her second book this month. She also has an evolving take on police and their role in the community.
