Valley Lighting Contest Winners Announced

The “Holiday Lights in the Valley” decorating contest received more than 30 entries this year. The contest has been held for more than a decade by the the Meachem Area Parks Association (MAPA) in an effort to enhance the sense of community in the Valley.

The Valley Lighting Contest Winner is located at 3630 Midland Ave.

The winning entry, selected by a review by the MAPA board, was photographed at 3630 Midland Ave. A close second place winner was photographed at 301 Rosemont Ave. Winners were given gift cards purchased by MAPA to Green Hills Farms and the Arctic Island/Broadway Café, respectively.

Second place is located at 301 Rosemont Ave.

The contest was open to residents of the North and South Valley neighborhoods in Syracuse as well as those in Nedrow.

Photos of all entries submitted by homeowners or their neighbors were posted on the Facebook page. MAPA board and invited guests reviewed all entries during the group’s annual meeting held Dec. 19 at the Cecile Community Center.
