Celebrate South Side Tree Lighting

Annual event spreads holiday cheer

The South Side Christmas Tree Lighting committee will hold its annual tree lighting from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at Beauchamp Branch Library.

Last year more than 150 neighbors poured into the upstairs auditorium and hallway in celebration of the tree lighting and community service awards. This year the ceremony will be led by Shante Harris El of the Southside Community Coalition.

Signups for youth 10 and younger will take place at Beauchamp Branch Library and the Southside Communication Center.

The Police Department will be on hand to give out hats and gloves, and Fire Department 8 will bring Santa.

The library is located at South Salina and West Colvin streets.
